I mentioned a few open source projects a couple weeks ago, but I seem to have drastically underestimated just how much quality free software is available on the Windows platform. My favorite Linux distribution that I haven’t tried yet, Ubuntu, has a wiki page listing dozens of Windows programs that are all completely free. The LOOP (List Of Open-source Programs) is a great place to go before you spend big bucks on commercial software. Check it out today! They even have free games – if that’s your sort of thing.
In case you’re wondering why a Linux group is helping you find free Windows software, they are hoping you will like these programs and then switch to Linux later on once you realize you don’t need Windows any more.
