Out with the old, in with the new… theme

I was getting a bit tired of Blix after more than six months, but I couldn’t find another theme that I really liked. I thought about writing my own, but never had the time. Today I came across a very cool theme called Lush. I was immediately taken with it and installed it right away. That’s when my fun began.

Lush is a bit rough around the edges, so my PHP and CSS knowledge came in very handy as I spent about an hour hacking at the files until it looked and acted the way that I wanted. The biggest headache was the complete lack of a contact form script, so I copied the one from Blix and modified it to suit Lush.

Anyway, I’m really happy with the change so far although I’m still tinkering with it. One great improvement over Blix is that Lush uses WordPress Widgets – little custom blocks that you can drag and drop into your sidebar from the admin interface. I’m already writing my own widgets.

So I hope you like the new look of Alimadzi. I know I do. The comments look really cool. You should write one and see for yourself (hint, hint)…

    Great new look, Pat. We just discovered it today. We also looked through your wish list. I was surprised to find that it’s exactly the same as mine. Did you copy and paste? How did you know I was a Coldplay fan? Have a great day.

    I like the new look man. What’s with the ladybugs? I love the subtle diagonal lines in everything, brings back memories.
