Another update
It’s been a couple weeks now and all my good intentions haven’t caused me to write more. In my defense, we’ve been quite busy. Here’s the executive summary…
We made an attempt to sell our house here in Columbus on our own. We put a very professional looking FSBO sign in the yard (that’s “For Sale By Owner” for those who don’t know) and I created HouseOnStanton.com to showcase the place. We also placed a small color ad in the Sunday paper. After all that, we’ve gotten a few dozen hits on the website, one e-mail, two phone calls, and one showing. It was a long shot to begin with, but it’s clearly not cutting it considering our abbreviated timeframe.
So we’ve hired a couple of realtors to do the work for us. We were able to hire two because they’re married (good deal, huh?). They’re going to use our website along with the all-important MLS listing, a lockbox, a virtual tour, and many other bells and whistles. And their rates are actually very reasonable. This frees us up to go ahead and plan our move to Port Orchard for some time next month. We’re pricing our house fairly aggressively, so it should sell during the summer. At least we don’t have to wait around until it does. So stay tuned for more news of our moving plans as the day is now quite imminent.
