Boise aiming to become another tech mecca

That’s right.  I’m talking about Boise, Idaho – the most isolated metropolitan area in the lower 48 and the largest metro area without a community college (though that will be changing soon).  Boise is also a mainstay on lists of best places to live, do business, raise a family, etc.  And it’s in a perfect location for outdoor lovers with easy access to hiking, biking, skiing, rafting, fishing, and more.  In short, it has a lot going for it.

There’s one new group in particular that is actively seeking to raise awareness of Boise’s tech scene and spark more entrepreneurship in the area.  That group is Tech Boise.  I attended the inaugural brownbag lunch last week, so I’ve met several of the people involved and I must say it’s a passionate group.  They’re mostly young, male, and involved in some sort of startup (yes, there are quite a few tech startups around here), but they all want to see Boise reach its full potential as a mecca for technology.

If you’re in the area and want to get involved, consider attending the Boise Idea Market next Friday.  Be sure to RSVP to Tac if you’re planning to attend as space is somewhat limited.  I hope to see you there!
